ART AT THE ARMORY

The Armory would like to thank those of you artists that had shown in October/November for the grand opening.

The Armory at Brighton Cultural Center, in partnership with Denver Artists.com, are pleased to announce the upcoming public exhibit of works by artists Hunter Jay, Dorothy DePaulo, and Heidi Snyder.

The exhibition of 23 pieces, in acrylic and colored pencil, will be on view in the Armory Theatre, premiering Friday, February 5th through Sunday, February 28th. The public is invited to the opening reception for this exhibit, which will be held on Friday, February 5th, from 6:30pm-8:00pm at the Armory, 300 Strong Street (directly north of the new Rangeview Library off of Bridge Street.) Come and meet the artists and get a personal perspective of the beautiful pieces that are on display:

FEBRUARY 2010 | MARCH 2010

Dorothy DePaulo

Dorothy's chosen medium is colored pencil, has lived most of her life in Colorado. From early childhood it had always been her dream to be an artist, but it wasn’t until she had worked many years as a registered nurse that she had the opportunity to attend the Colorado Institute of Art where she majored in graphic design. Since that time she has worked freelance as a muralist, a portraitist, and an illustrator of a children’s book and paper dolls for Doll Reader and Teddy Bear Magazines.

Hunter Jay

Hunter's art career began in 1964 with drawings of Godzilla in battle with squadrons of fighter jets. His fellow first graders were his early collectors for these scenes of chaos, which were all free for the asking. Hunter now works primarily in Acrylic, creating still life and representational art which incorporate a mystical, soft focus background. The subject matter varies, but his goal is to reveal the wonder of the hidden world around us.

Heidrun Snyder

To Heidi, there is “perfection in the most minute of details and a glimpse of eternity in the quickest of moments and the tiniest of shapes, forms, and structures.” Ms. Snyder also works in colored pencil, and has brought a variety of works, incorporating southwestern themes and extensive reference to Native America, to this exhibit.

All three artists are members of DenverArtists.com, an online collaborative effort founded in 2005 by web designer Zachary Reece, and developer Marcelo Rodriquez. The goal of the collaborative is to promote Colorado artists, galleries, and art supporting businesses to local, national, and international collectors and visitors to the state. The Armory at Brighton Cultural Center is pleased to partner with DenverArtists.com on this exhibit, and looks forward to future exhibits displaying the work of Colorado artists!

The February 5th reception is FREE and open to the public (6:30-9:00pm), and all ages are welcome.
